Redesigning the Montshire Museum Shop
Project Objective: To provide an alternative layout for the Montshire museum shop that will help increase sales and customer experience while keeping the area neat, organized, and less prone to shoplifting
Issues: Ambiguous entryway / clutter / shoplifting
Focus:
- Provide a distinct entryway that will make the threshold between the museum and the shop clear
- Provide an alternative organization of the shop that will showcase the items in a neat and orderly way and at the same time provide a pathway that promotes the smooth and uninterrupted flow of customers
- Provide an adequate space for a refrigerator
New Entranceway
- Single entranceway by blocking off second pathway between column and stairs
- Glass panel on the opposite side of column, display shelf behind glass to showcase highlighted merchandise
- Framed entranceway through extending a wooden board from the new glass panel frame to the hanging wood board above the admissions that currently exists
New Cashier Desk
- New straight, slanted cashier desk opposite admissions desk that provides view into blind spot behind stairway as well, preventing shoplifting
- Keeps cashier and admissions together so there is no need to hire separate people for each desk
New Shelves
- New uniform muji-style shelves for entire shop
- Limited to three island shelves in store to maximize customer space / maximize shelf use to be able to show all merchandise in the three shelves
- Provide stacked cylinder blocks around the two interior columns that can be used to showcase merchandise or seating space for customers
